Two Posts in One Day!!

Miller Farms

Pumkin Time...he was actually pulling pumpkins off
the stack...sly little dog!

This is a working farm. We were able to take a hay ride out to the fields and pick veggies to our hearts content! The weather was very hot....so Rob went back to get Eli a drink. Then I found out we had four MORE stops...I couldn't take it...Eli was grouchy, I had had enough. So, I had to decide, to I forgo the food or my child....of course I picked the food! So, Eli and I trudged back...such a delightful trip back we had, yeah right! We ended up getting all of our bags of food when the hay ride came back....all except a bag of corn that someone took from my dad! This is a must go back and visit place for next year.

Some of Eli's silly things: 1)When we were praying the other day, he starts off...we need to pray...father son holy spirit...I pledge allegiance, to the flag!! I love it...too funny. 2) We have halloween candy in a pumpkin dish so after he finishes dinner, he says "One umpkin and two corns?" 3) Rob and Eli were goofing around, all of a sudden he tells his dady, "No tickling, No Rough Housin....be NICE to Eli"

October....Already!

This is what everybody thought of our hike.....overwhelming dissatisfaction!!

Can you guess the one Kennedy drew vs. the ones Amanda drew?

My oh my....I haven't posted in quite some time. Guess we have been busy! Since our last post, we had the best company come out to enjoy the Wyoming way of life. Joe, Mike, Lynda, Kelsey and Kennedy came out for a spectacular visit. We ventured back to the Rapid City area for a weekend of adventures. ROb and I have seen Mt. Rushmore more times than we ever imagined. While in Hill City, all of us tried to take a marvelous hike....our hiking guide couldn't have been more wrong. The trail was intense plus with the addition of all the rain, there were bugs galore. Among all of the crazy things we did, picking up Amanda from the airport was awesome! It was the first times in years that my family was able to visit with her. Amanda is an amazing artist. Kennedy even got in on the action....she must have felt bad that her mom didn't have a personal portrait!

On the day everyone left, we had quite a treat for Amanda! We had tickets to see The Wiggles. What I didn't realize is that we were in the 2nd row from the stage!!! Eli was in shock for almost the entire concert. The most amazing part was when Murray Wiggle grabbed the sign Amanda made and took it on stage...after that Eli was so excited!! He is now back hooked on The Wiggles...thought we were over that hurdle!

Amanda was due to fly out on Sunday, so on Saturday we set out for an all day excurion on the quads. We didn't realized that mid-day, we were going to be making a trip to the hospital. The end results were 10 broken ribs and a broken collar bone...can you guess who for? To give you a hint, I felt as if de ja vu had set in because six years to the day, we were sitting in the ER awaiting Rob to get plates and screws to hold up his leg!!! Two weeks after the accident, he ended up getting surgery on his collar bone...more plates. pins, and screws. I am sooo excited that I took out the extra insurance policy on the quads. Eli is going through a, "I need to be just like daddy so he had to have an arm brace too." I am sure his days will be coming when he has his own arm slings! The picture is pre-surgery.....Rob now has an enormous scar on his shoulder.

I have been extremely busy with my job. I have never worked so hard in my life. Rob is amazed at how much work I bring home on a daily basis. I do like my job though. It is nice to be back working with elementary kids. My district also offers an unimaginable amount of trainings...plus they pay you to attend....what a win-win situation! The bummer is that the classes are on Saturdays. Currently I am taking a Guided Reading class..it is awesome!

Eli started out going to school at St. Mary's but after much disappointment on our end, we pulled him from the program. He started going to his old daycare....my oh my, I didn't realize what he was going through until a few weeks ago. He is soo much happier and his stuttering that had started is slowly going away. He will start going back to STRIDE a few days a week. This is the program that helps work on his speech.

Over Labor Day weekend, we rented an R with my folks and headed to Mesa Verde, Colorado. We had a blast. Mesa Verde an amazing place that had cliff dwellers. What an amazing site. My mom, Rob and I took a tour of the Palace...left Eli with my dad. We thought the tour was 30 minutes, ended up being an hour....oops! I wanted this pictures of our trip down here but the blog wouldn't cooperate....so the pictures are at the top.

Our daddies brought us a special treat...pushups!

After a busy day at the carnival and in the pool, the crew
takes time for a picture...Eli, Kelsey, Noah, Kennedy, and Luke.

Enjoying a few cocktails with Steve and Tara

Look out Uncle Joe, Eli likes to drench people!

Waiting for the parade...(I should have zoomed in a little)
You should have seen the bag of candy they got from the parade....yikes!

Our visit with Steph and Fer...hanging out enjoying life!

Just wait, the reason for the picture is in the blog....

Hard to believe we have been back for two weeks...wow, time is precious! We had a great time visiting everyone. Our plane landed (a little late) in Indy, Rob and I stepped outside and about died. The humidity was insane....and it was midnight! Thankgoodness Joe had AC. My brother had to work for a few hours, so we went and picked up our rental car and headed to Michigan. Our trip up was a bit hairy until Eli fell asleep...needless to say, he was a bit cranky! As the miles rolled by, we smiled at the scenery...full trees, green grass...oh the beauty of being back in Michigan. Our first stop was Bronners Christmas Store. We have purchased a Dickens house for Christmas and our anniversary each year so we needed to get that done. I also started taking a picture of Eli by the giant Santa since we have come home from China...he gets a kick out of seeing this giant statue! I wonder if he will still let me take his picture with Santa when he is 16? After our fill of Christmas, we headed to my brother Mike's house. We hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving and were very excited to spend some time with them. During our visit with them, we managed to take in a parade, attend a carnival, go to the zoo, and visit Central Michigan University. I have to mention that at the zoo, they have an exhibit of crows and prairre dogs! During our time in Saginaw, our friends Steph and Fer stopped by for a few laughs. Then the next day, Tara, Steve, Noah and Luke came by to enjoy the carnival and pool with us. It was great seeing everyone!!!

After leaving Saginaw, we made our way to Muskegon. We met Rob's sister for dinner along with his dad. We went to dinner at Fricano's on the lake. I love their menu....pizza with a variety a toppings, thats it! Not too hard to decide what to eat! While we were enjoying our company, a party of 30 little kids and six parents sat right next to us. Oh boy, did it get noisy in there!!! We then headed over to Kim and Tom's house so the kids could have a water fight. Eli got way into the game...he even grabbed the hose and tried to drench Jesse. While in Muskegon, we stayed at Rob's aunts house. She was so excited to see us (likewise for us!). Rob ended up getting a pool for Eli to swim in as it was hotter than heck while we were there....we didn't miss the humidity at all!!

Rob was able to spend some time with his cousin Mark and I was able to spend some time with my friend Barb. Barb and I met at McDonalds and let the kids play and play...I won't even mention how long we were there!!! Eli had a blast playing with Jack, Sydney, and Issac. Barb sent us a picture of all the kids and Eli had to tell everyone who's who....so cute! It was so awesome to sit and talk with her....I sure miss seeing her and her family! Also during our time at McDonalds, my friend Cally ( we taught with each other in Ionia) was able to stop in with her hubby and sweet baby, Lila! What a special treat it was to see them. Amanda was able to make it over for a night...it is always great to see her. It was so hot that I totally forgot to take a picture of her. She is visiting in July so I will be sure to take several pics of her them.

One night, we went and visited Cory and Megan. We got to met there latest addition, Lainey. What a cutie she is! Eli had a blast playing with their daughter, Ava. The night before our visit, I was talking with Cory and we were both a little concerned how the two of them would get along...they are both strong willed! I think they only had one disagreement, but it was settled quickly.

The next day, we packed our belongings and headed back to Joe's house. On our way there, we stopped in Kalamazoo to visit The Wilders. Rob and Craig were great friends in high school. It had been 24 years since they had seen each other. He and his wife have five beautifu children. All of the kids were so willing to help each other...it was great to see! It was very late when we arrived in Indy. The next day, we hung out with my brother for the day until we had to head to the airport. Rob had to help him get a few things done around the house....one of which was cleaning the gutters....oh the smell was disgusting!

The only person I didn't get a chance to visit was my grandma. Eli and I had a delighful drive our to Sparta....I have always loved that drive. When we arrived at her house, we were told she was at the doctors. Darn it!

I hope I have included everyone we visited while back in Michigan. One parting thought about our trip back to Michigan....We are very blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.

Gadzooks....It has been awhile!

Where in the world does time go? Another school year is in the history books...so is teaching at Johnson Junior High. I just got a new job at Lebhart Elementary. Yes folks, I am back teaching elementary...YIPPEE!! Rob is busy at South High. He has also been working on completing half of the basement. We now have running water in the bathroom but need to get drywall to finish it up.

We celebrated Eli's 2nd Gotcha Day May 28th. I still find it hard to believe that we have been home from China for two years. We relived our trip by watching our China video with our friends Amy and Erik. Eli is also fascinated with his life book (this is a book that I started for him to track his journal in life....very similar to a scrapbook). Eli wanted to have an M&M cake...I didn't have a round cake pan so he got M&M cupcakes instead (he loved them just the same). He had his 1st official dentist appointment yesterday. I was so bummed that I forgot my camera. The office had a board welcoming Eli as a new patient....then the cute little toddler dentist chairs....awww...so adorable!!! After the appointment, we had to schedule surgery for him in late July. We knew with his cleft palate he would need some work but wow...thats an understatement! After an already busy day, I received a phone call from the dentist and they had a cancelation for today at 12:15! HOLY CRAP!!! So, Eli goes in to get some major dental work done at the Yellowstone Surgical Center. However, we are very excited that one of the teeth getting fixed is his little front tooth that has been in bad shape since China.

In May, Justin and Faith came for a visit. We had so much fun that they came to live with us for a bit. Justin is working for Rob at the base. Faith starts her job at McDonalds today. Eli is soooo excited to have his big brother here...and so are we!

Next week, we head to Indiana and Michigan for a little vacation...we intend on seeing a lot of friends and family. We fly into Indy to see Joe, then head to Saginaw to see Mike, Lynda, Kelsey (who has her driving permit...yikes), and Kennedy. Then we head to Muskegon. While there, we are staying with Rob's aunt. We will visit Rob's sister Kim along with her hubby Tom and kiddos Tommy and Jesse. Rob's dad is also in town and staying at Kim's so we will see him. We are also planning on meeting up with Robb and Sam (they are expecting their first baby in Sept. and getting married in July). Hopefully with Amanda's busy schedule we will be able to meet up with her also! Like I said, it is going to be a vere busy vacation ( I haven't even included the friends we are going to visit)!!!

Last month, Rob purchased two quads...it is so much fun riding the trails. Eli wants to ride all the time...he is always saying ride the quads, ride the quads to Amy and Erik's. I can predict many visits to the ER with him!!!

The Day Before Easter...(yikes, I have some catching up to do!)

Riding in the backhoe with his sidekick
Older picture...but Eli is ready to skate!

The exhibits were awesome!

Eli and Mama at the Denver Aquarium

Life sure can be busy....we have had a wild Spring so far when it comes to weather...70 degree days, then a blizzard. What counts now is that the snow is gone (hopefully for good).

This past week was Spring Break for me. Eli loved it as he got to stay home and chill in his unerwear (just can't get that "d" in there yet). He is quite content playing with all of his toys. On Friday, Rob and I took Eli to the aquarium in Denver...WOW! That place is amazing. Eli was so engaged throughout our visit. After you go through the exhibits, you can exit outside to a huge pathway...which links you to a Six Flags Amusement Park ( however, it is no longer SF but I can't remember the name of it), The Children's Museum, and the various stadiums that are downtown. On another trip, Eli will have to go to the Children's Museum. Once we left downtown Denver, we drove to a huge Bass Pro Shop...beats Cabela's in Sydney, Nebraska by a mile. We had to check out everything in the store. It was all over when we got to the quad section...Eli was jumping off and on every quad as fast as you can imagine! We were laughing at him as he pretended to drive. Doesn't help that Rob has been on a rampage of purchasing a quad so Eli knows all about it! Plus our friends in our neighborhood have a quad that Eli gets to ride on.

One of my projects during Spring Break was to paint the kitchen....pure torture! To begin with, we chose a darker color...I have used darker colors in the past and I should have remembered what hell it is to make the paint cover the wall. After I got the 2nd coat on it still looked like crap...thank god a guy that Rob knows is a painter (I couldn't help but wonder where he was when I started this flippin' project). He will be done with everything on Monday. I vow never to paint a large area again as painting and I do not get along.

We are patiently anticipating heading back to Michigan this summer. We have a lot to accomplish during the time frame we are visiting. Then in July or August, The Thayers are coming out for a visit....I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Being away from family is the hardest part of moving. It is scary to see the umemployment rates back in Michigan....so many families are being tested.

Most of you may have heard, but we have started the adoption process again...we are in the very first stage of gathering paperwork. Adoption Associates has changed a lot of the paperwork process and the process of being matched with a child so it will be a whole different adventure. We will keep you posted!

Why can't pictures go on here...what happened to the icon?

Things continue to be busy in The Crosby's household. The weather has been fanstastic so we have been busy enjoying our time outside. We do get a few windy days here and there but I guess its better than blowing snow. Rob was able to reassemeble Eli's swingset...its like having a new toy to Eli! Eli has also mastered (well, almost) driving his motorized Harley truck that he got last year. He can finally reach the gas pedal! He drives all over the yard. Once he gets started, it is hard to get him to turn around. While he is driving, he has to have his sunglasses on...too funny. He also continues to play soccer on Saturdays. This week, he actually played most of the game...a huge step in the right directions. It is amazing how far bribery with a snack will go. His speech has taken off this past couple of weeks. He goes around the house singing the entire alphabet song...then, he will try to sing it really fast, its hilarous. This morning while in the kitchen, he pointed to the cubboard that usually has chocolate hidden inside. Then he blurts out, "Papa ate it all!" We got laughing so hard at him.

Yeah! It's the Weekend!!!

So glad I have a three day weekend. Life definately got busier after I went back to work. My new position is going very well...nothing like I have every done...very fun and exciting! One requirement of working for this district is creating a portfolio of everything you can imagine that relates to teaching...too bad I tossed so much when we moved...ouch. So, my day off will be spent gathering materials for my portfolio.

Rob has been very busy at work. This past week, many plumbing areas were inspected which leads to a lot of documentation. Needless to say, we were all glad to see the work week come to an end. Now we have a couple of days to relax before the fun starts again.

Getting Eli into a new schedule was quite a task! Mornings come early in for all of us in Cheyenne. Eli and I head out to bring him to daycare. He has a new daycare teacher who is absolutely fabulous! Being a teacher, I love that his daycare provides lesson plans of daily activities....just makes me giddy getting his weekly plans, what a goof, I know! He also continues to go to STRIDE two days a week. I can't believe the improvements in his speech. He is singing his alphabet..some letter sounds are still difficult for him so he the sounds are the same. He will start out saying his alphabet slow then say it really fast (thanks to Super Y). You can't help but laugh when he is rattling his song at top speed.

Tommorrow brings Eli his 2nd soccer game at The YMCA. Have you ever seen fifteen 3 year olds all chase a soccer ball around a gym? It is such a funny site. He also has a birthday party at the ice skating arena to go to tomorrow. I will have to post some pictures, as skating ought to be a hoot. Thankgoodness they have double blades and cones for the kids to push!

Another Move For The Crosby's

Nope, we are not kidding you...The Crosby's have moved once again. Our lease was coming up on our house we were renting so we thought we would start looking at houses. We ended up with a quite new house with some acreage for the dogs to run. As you can imagine, our lives have been nothing but packing, painting, and moving boxes! I don't know about Rob, but I don't need to pick up another paint brush for a long time!!! We have most of the stuff put away...we are down to the "where to we put this" items.

Eli starts a new daycare this week...World of Wonder. This daycare is much more academic. He will still have playtime but I wanted a place where he would be able to do projects. My job starts Monday January 26th! I am so excited to get back into the classroom....8th graders once again. This week, I get to shadow the teacher I am replacing on Wednesday and Thursday. I am sure I will get those Sunday night jitters once again.

South High School (the job site Rob's working at) seems to be going quite well. I still can't believe how huge this school is. My mom and dad are enjoying working there as well. Kinda funny that starting next week, all four of us will be working in the same area as my school is across the street from the job site.

Hopefully this nasty stomach virus has vanished from our house. I caught it early with Eli and had him take some great meds that worked wonders. Rob is still recooperating and I had another bout with it this week. I am finally feeling better....nothing like moving when you feel like your going to get sick at any minute...yuck.

I best go but some of those odd items away...fun, fun!!
